We have also had situations where they do not know where the equipment is or it has been stolen, and there we can do the blocking through the BIOS. Even if they erase it, the block remains, which is excellent. Personally, I haven't been using it for long, but what we have seen so far has worked very well. The use is very intuitive, and both the installation and implementation on the computers are quick and easy. We use it very frequently, and the management from the console is very user-friendly, especially for creating groups and managing the equipment among the different projects we handle. The software has several useful features, and the best part is that it integrates easily with our current operations. This allows us to easily see which devices are missing antivirus software or our patch management software. Our LTE devices can connect to it as well, so it's pretty accurate. Absolute support is very good as well; everytime I've called in I have not had to wait on hold for very long and the technicians have been very knowledgeable so the issues have been resolved in a very timely manner **What do you dislike about Absolute Secure Endpoint?** We had lost a device and the location history was a little hard to find in the web interface. Whenever I have had to perform actions on missing devices (or any other actions) I have found it difficult to find out what every action does. I have had to use google to figure out which each one **Recommendations to others considering Absolute Secure Endpoint:** This is a very useful piece of software especially if you have LTE devices that don't connect to the corporate network very often. We use it mainly to protect our data in the event that the device is lost or stolen; we can remotely wipe the device which ensures that our data and our customers' personal information is kept safe. **What problems is Absolute Secure Endpoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** It allows us to track down missing or stolen devices more easily. Absolute also allows us to remotely wipe or disable a device even if the drive has already been reformatted. We have been using it verify our inventory as well. Geo-Location and IP reporting helps me keep track of asset locations. Once installed it's baked into the BIOS so cannot be removed by anybody without authorisation. Even if the HDD is removed and replaced, Absolute will re-download itself and monitor the device! It now comes with an optional suite of tools to recover your device after a malware attack or if unrecoverable a-la-crowdstrike! Very useful indeed **What do you dislike about Absolute Secure Endpoint?** There's nothing to dislike with the product; it does everything we need it to and more! What's more the product is continually being developed and new features are regularly added to improve our endpoint management. **Recommendations to others considering Absolute Secure Endpoint:** Absolute offer a trial of their products, its well worth giving it a try. **What problems is Absolute Secure Endpoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have used absolute to track ongoing usage of devices, especially laptops. Those that have not been used for more than 30 days can be identified and the users contacted to establish why they haven't logged in. If there's no good reason then the laptop can be reclaimed and issued to a new member of staff. It's a great money saver as laptops aren't being left in drawers while we're buying new devices. Laptops that breach our United Kingdom geofence can be quickly locked down too - unless there's a good reason for taking them out of the country of course! We also recently manage to recover a laptop that had been stolen and wiped then installed a new version of Windows. Absolute re-applied itself and checked in with a geo location. Info was passed to the police and device recovered. ### 9. We have several mission critical systems in the field at all times. We were able to recover the laptop after 2 months and it did not freeze even after sitting half a day online in the office. Customer support is great, and we are able to get quick responses when we open a ticket with clear resolutions. Our team appreciates the updates to the console as it is straight forward to use and the agent activation was easy to integrate into our imaging process. We use it daily to manage and track devices and look forward to integrating into our SNOW CMDB in the near future. **What do you dislike about Absolute Secure Endpoint?** Honestly, not many downsides - biggest issue we have at the moment is the licensing model. We have put in a request to "downgrade" machines that are in a "frozen/Wipe/unenroll" state as they still take up a regular license while in a "limbo" or transitional state. Sometimes we are not able to account for the device and although we would like to unenroll the machine, we still want the ability to wipe any data from it prior to unenroll - were it ever to come back online. These types of machines still require a full license even though they may never come back online and are not being actively managed. **What problems is Absolute Secure Endpoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are able to keep track of our laptop fleet. This includes work from home, remote work, traveling, and on-site because we have several campus locations. The ability to freeze assets due to theft, employee turnover, or compliance is key. We also value the compliance reporting abilities for various other tools we have installed on the machines and the ability to heal not only the absolute agent, but other tools as deemed necessary. Another feature we use is storing data in custom fields for devices so that we are able to access that info at a glance from the console. ### 12. Built-in at a hardware level it provides the upmost support so that way the device is not completely lost out of our asset management system. the ability for the device to provide ailed information as well as sending commands to it provide a great ability for us to track and secure our devices. The deployment for the devices was not very difficult, once added with the serial number, the devices were able to be enrolled, some support documentation did take a little bit longer to review. However, the support documentations did lead to multiple pages which caused a little excessive reading, but it did provide the information that was needed. Once we did get the devices enrolled and call into the monitoring center, it just took a little bit of time for the devices to fully check in, it would be great to see more of a video walk-through of each set up of each device and how to guide because videos will answer a bunch more questions reading a set up guide. The devices are consistently tracked and check in 24 hours every day, or you can set the devices to check in sooner if you need them too. **What do you dislike about Absolute Secure Endpoint?** Some of the automated scripts are a little bit difficult to produce, and some of the scripts that should be standardized are not in the script library, you would have to make those yourself. Other software asset tracking systems and remote monitoring systems do have scrips built in that provide a simple and efficient means of monitoring and updating devices, whereas this product is not very strong in that area. **What problems is Absolute Secure Endpoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tracking our devices, that was the biggest reason why we went with this company. It's because we are able to track and monitor our devices, but we did have to end up using a corporate enterprise plan in order to get all of the features that we required. We did go through a third-party vendor in order to get the licenses assigned to our account however, that was a very simple process. I do wish that the platform did have an ability to track and monitor the devices without having the software removed from a small business standpoint. With a small business pricing option. ### 16. Geo-tracking is extremely important, and when a system leaves the fenced area, we can have it frozen nearly immediately automatically. Additional plans even allow Absolute to regularly validate your security stack installed on end clients to make sure that it is installed, and up to date. All of this is extremely important in a world where more and more workers are remote or travelling. **What do you dislike about Absolute Secure Endpoint?** So far the only downside we have had is with getting the agents to check in initially. There is also sometimes a delay between when the system is detected outside of the geofence, and when that is reported to Absolute. It most has to do with the interval of the data transmission, and the Absolute team has been great at working with us on improving this service. **What problems is Absolute Secure Endpoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** We need to ensure that the data on our systems does not leave the United States. Absolute's geo-fence helps to facilitate this with geo-gencing and the ability to remotely freeze devices so that the data is not accessable. We currently have additional plans to use the remote wipe feature to ensure extra security measures are met when scrapping hardware that will no longer be used. ### 20. The best part of using an SaaS like Syxsense is that we are able to manage endpoints that are simply connected to the internet and has no VPN requirements. Our previous solution failed to capture and manage all endpoints as they were not regularly or consistantly connected to VPN. This is acomplished by a Syxsense agent installed on the endpoint. This is far better and provides more reliable patching versus WSUS. After sales customer support was redily available to help us get onboarded and to troubleshoot initail issues. **What do you dislike about Absolute Secure Endpoint?** The issues the we exprienced are mostly due to our organizations unfamiliarlity with cloud-based solutions. Others who are more familiar will likely not expreince this issue. The issue we faced was wtih the intial configuration and naming of groups, collections, etc. Since this is a cloud application, unique name requirements applied and this prevented us from simply replicating our existing organzatinal structure. While onboading and intergrating with Syxsense was easy, this was a minor understanding hurdle we had to overcome. **What problems is Absolute Secure Endpoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** The most significant problem it solved for us, especially during the pandemic, was that we were able to manage and patch endpoints that infrequently connected to VPN. We use Office 365 and a subset of our staff access their Office 365 over the web exclusively, thus they do not regularly connect to VPN. This created a security risk for us as the non-VPN endpoints were not getting patched by WSUS. Syxsense as a SaaS with a Windows agent solved this problem for us. Syxsense is easily deployable to our remote workstations and integrates seamlessly with our systems. **What do you dislike about Absolute Secure Endpoint?** That we did not find it sooner.
